As the Round Ireland was about to start, we saw the 1720s battling for the European Champion title over three intense days at the Royal St George Yacht Club.


Anthony O'Leary led the championships on the first day in gusty northerlies. On equal point with O'Leary, Neil Hogan (defending champion) came second. Elder Lemon skippered by Robert Dix came third.

On the second day, O'Leary extended his lead after scoring three seconds on the three Friday races. Neil Hogan maintained his second position and Smile'N'Wave moved into third.

Day three saw the coronation of Anthony O'Leary's Antix as the winner of the 1720's European Championships 2016 after another series of second place results. Neil Hogan of Baltimore Sailing Club taking second overall (one point behind Antix). The third place has been filled by Zing, a Monkstown Bay Sailing Club entry.
