Viking Marine ILCA 6 World Championship Update - Final

Eve McMahon Seventh as Charlotte Rose Wins World Title in Dún Laoghaire

With the ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship taking place just outside our door in Dún Laoghaire, Viking Marine has been following the racing throughout the week, with particular attention on the four Irish sailors competing against the world’s best.

American Charlotte Rose has been crowned 2026 ILCA 6 Women’s World Champion, while Ireland’s Eve McMahon completed an impressive home championship in seventh place.
The top ten sailors contested two Final Series races on Saturday in windy and wavy conditions. The breeze ranged from approximately 12 to 17 knots, providing a demanding conclusion to the six-day championship on Dublin Bay.

McMahon entered the finale in ninth position and moved two places up the standings after finishing eighth and third. The Howth Yacht Club sailor ends the championship seventh overall on 51 points.

Rose began the day with a nine-point advantage and secured the title with a second and sixth-place finishes. Her final total of 23 points gave the American a five-point victory.
Belgium’s Emma Plasschaert recorded sixth and second-place finishes to claim silver on 28 points. Denmark’s Anna Munch completed the podium on 34 after finishing fifth and fourth.

Hungary’s Mária Érdi won the final race and finished fourth overall, one point ahead of Britain’s Matilda Nicholls, who won the opening race. The Netherlands’ Maxime Jonker placed sixth, immediately ahead of McMahon.

Britain’s Hannah Snellgrove, defending world champion Louise Cervera of France and Poland’s Agata Barwińska completed the top ten.

The remaining Irish sailors concluded their championships following Friday’s final fleet race. Olympic silver medallist Annalise Murphy finished 24th overall on her return to World Championship competition.

Sienna Wright completed the event in 57th place and Lucy Ives finished 83rd, gaining valuable experience in a fleet of 108 sailors.

McMahon’s seventh place completes a strong week in which she steadily progressed through the standings, recorded four top-three fleet finishes and represented Ireland in the ten-boat championship finale.

The event was hosted jointly by the National Yacht Club and Royal St George Yacht Club, bringing many of the world’s leading ILCA 6 sailors to Dún Laoghaire for six days of international racing.
