We are proud to introduce our new crew members: Brewster & Tidey, Gary & Paul, and Annalise. We decided that the only right thing to do was to name them after our favorite 2016 olympians.
Throughout what we can only call an intense race, Annalise played a very good tactical game and came out with the Silver medal in Rio making her the first sailor medalist since 1980. This must feel pretty sweet for the National Yacht Club sailor. Yesterday, as she was talking to the media just after the race, she couldn't tell if she was crying or laughing and we can't blame her for it. One thing is sure, there was a great atmosphere in Dun Laoghaire last night thanks to her and we can't wait to see her home for some well deserve celebrations. ...
Tom Higgins from the Royal St George Yacht Club won the Volvo Gill Optimist National and British Open Championship on the 5th of August. After Ewan McMahon's silver medal at the KBC Laser Radial World Championships, the Irish sailing promises to have a bright future. We also had some wins worth mentioning in the junior fleet and the regatta race: - Justin Lucas 3rd from the RCYC - Junior Fleet - Russell Bolger 2nd - Jessica Jordan 3rd both from the RSGYC - Regatta race.
Here we are, the Olympics are upon us, but when should you tune in to see the Irish sailing team in action. Here is the list of the Laser and 49er events. All times shown are in Irish (GMT) time.
