Tom Higgins from the Royal St George Yacht Club won the Volvo Gill Optimist National and British Open Championship on the 5th of August. After Ewan McMahon's silver medal at the KBC Laser Radial World Championships, the Irish sailing promises to have a bright future. We also had some wins worth mentioning in the junior fleet and the regatta race: - Justin Lucas 3rd from the RCYC - Junior Fleet - Russell Bolger 2nd - Jessica Jordan 3rd both from the RSGYC - Regatta race.

What an eventful weekend! As the Round Ireland was about to start, we saw the 1720s battling for the European Champion title over three intense days at the Royal St George Yacht Club. Anthony O'Leary led the championships on the first day in gusty northerlies. On equal point with O'Leary, Neil Hogan (defending champion) came second. Elder Lemon skippered by Robert Dix came third. On the second day, O'Leary extended his lead after scoring three seconds on the three Friday races. Neil Hogan maintained his second position and Smile'N'Wave moved into third. Day three saw the coronation of Anthony O'Leary's Antix as the winner...
