Irish Sea Pilot 2nd Edition

Regular price €39.95The Irish Sea is a huge, almost landlocked sea. Around its shores and islands there are no fewer than six countries, provinces or protectorates.
Several languages are represented; English, Welsh, Irish, Scots Gaelic and Manx, along with countless accents and dialects. Its waters teem with life; dolphins and porpoises are a common sight; leatherback turtles come here from the Caribbean to feed on the jellyfish and whales are regular visitors. In the air there are gulls, puffins, guillemots and more. The range of challenges and coastlines is astonishing. Tides above five knots are commonplace and yet there are calm, sheltered waters for relaxed wandering.
This well established pilot covers both sides of the Irish Sea from Milford Haven to Portpatrick, and Rathlin Island to Carnsore Point. From his base in Liverpool David Rainsbury spent much of 2014 revisiting the coasts he describes. The sailing directions and descriptions, updated for this second edition, cover all the places that provide shelter. At the start of each chapter there are useful coasting notes which deal with some of the more difficult passages and tidal gateways. The harbour text is then clearly organised so that essential information regarding accessibility, tides and shelter always proceed the pilotage notes which are supported by clear full colour plans.
For this second edition the harbour plans have been updated and throughout new photos have been added. The text records all changes as well as including a new section on wind farms.

His professional involvement in technology companies as an engineer, manager and director has given him an insight into design and usability that he applies to his pilot books. Carlos has lived most of his life in Britain but he is originally from Spain, a country that he knows well, naming Galicia as one of his favourite areas. Robert Bailey was brought up in a sailing family. Over a period of 35 years, and with the aid of a Nicholson 32 and Rustler 36, much of the coastline of the north western approaches to Europe, from the Faroe Islands in the north to the Morbihan in the south, were avidly explored. In 2001 he adopted a more flexible approach to his career as an aerospace engineer and this allowed him to take up cruising instruction. He is now a Yachtmaster Instructor.

We want you to be 100% satisfied with any online order placed with us. Therefore if you wish to return an item for whatever reason you may contact us by email at sales@vikingmarine.ie to organise a return.
All returns must be organised within 30 days of receiving your order. Refunds are available within the first 14 days after receiving your order. After this period we can offer an exchange or store credit.
Goods can be returned for a full refund plus any shipping paid at the time of purchase if they are faulty or if the wrong item has been dispatched.
Items must be unused and still have their original packaging and labelling attached.
Nothing in these conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
The PayPal account or card used originally for the purchase will be credited with the original purchase amount
If you are looking to exchange the goods for an alternative product or size, you will be liable for the extra shipping costs from our end.
Any footwear returned to us must be in its original condition, including boxes and footbeds.
Any items that we deem unhygienic will not be processed so please clean faulty goods if returning them.
Please note that if items are returned you should ask for proof of postage from your post office as we reserve the right to refuse a refund if an item is lost whilst being returned. Any item bought online can also be returned in store within the terms and conditions of sale, just remember to bring along your receipt.
Special Orders
If you have changed your mind on a non regular stock item that was ordered specially this can be returned for store credit only.
